π¦ Unboxing the U7 Pro
In this video, we’re taking a look at the new U7 Pro, the first Wi-Fi 7 access point from Ubiquity. The U7 Pro was sent to us for a video review, and it comes in a new brown-colored box. Inside the box, along with the U7 Pro, we have a mounting template, professional mount, and various mounting accessories. The U7 Pro features a 2.5 GB ethernet interface powered by poe+ and has ventilation slots for heat dissipation.
π± Adoption and Settings
We adopted the U7 Pro into our network controller, and it was up to date with no firmware updates required. The U7 Pro is a triband access point, supporting 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz. We explored the settings in our network controller to tweak the radios and ensure we have the 320 MHz channel width for the 6 GHz band.
π οΈ Testing Setup
To test the U7 Pro’s performance, we set up a network topology with two different internet connections, a UDMC, and a Pro Max 24 POE switch. We also connected a Google Pixel 8 and a Synology NAS to the U7 Pro for testing. The Google Pixel 8 was set to use Wi-Fi 7 on the 6 GHz band with a 160 MHz channel width.
π Speed Test Results
We conducted internet speed tests and local LAN speed tests using the Google Pixel 8 and the Synology NAS. The Google Pixel 8 achieved incredibly fast speeds of 1146.38 Mbps down and 1165.7 Mbps up over the 3 Gbps internet connection. On the local LAN, we achieved speeds of approximately 1300 Mbps down and 1365 Mbps up.

Wi-Fi 7 introduces exciting advances such as multi-link operation, which allows simultaneous connections across two or more channels in different bands.
